Our program– Shelby County Homeschool Sports (SCHS) is an independent athletic program for home-educated athletes. It began in the fall of 2021 with the intent to provide athletic opportunities for any home-educated athlete with a desire to play volleyball.
SCHS has grown from one 18u team and one 14u team in the 2021 school season to a Varsity, Junior varsity, middle school, and elementary teams in the 2024 school ball season. In 2025 we will again expand offering the opportunity for boys in grades 6th and under a place to compete.
Our ethics– We seek to treat each and every participant with respect while also encouraging them to grow athletically and in character throughout the season.
Our affiliation– While we are not affiliated with any particular group our leadership and coaches are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects Christ. With this understanding, athletes of all religions are welcome in our program.
Our competition– SCHS plays against public, private, and homeschool opponents in the greater Shelby County area as well as at National Christian Homeschool Volleyball Championships (NCHVC) Regional and National Tournaments.
Some of our successes-

Open gym and summer training- Open gym and summer training are available to all school-age girl volleyball players in 12th grade and under and all boy volleyball players entering 6th grade and under.
Player evaluations- While we seek to provide a competitive volleyball program, we also have a “no cut” policy. SCHS will use player evaluations to place each student-athlete on the team best suited to their age and skill level. It is the goal of the program to play and place well, but we do not have a win-at-all-cost attitude. *Player evaluations will NOT be required for elementary and middle school athletes unless the number of athletes participating provides for more than one team to be formed at each age level and parents will be notified.
Player fees- Players fees cover all team expenses including tournaments, referees, court rental, team insurance, equipment, player jersey(s), player practice shirt(s), and coaching fees. Discounts will be given for multi-player families as well as returning players who do not need new jerseys.
